This indoor class on location at HD Aluminum Prints will focus on all aspects to produce a fantastic print, including taking home a 20"x30" aluminum print of your own work.

Printing can be challenging, confusing, and intimidating with good printing information hard to find. In this workshop we will demonstrate and share the most important elements of printing without getting bogged down in overly technical details. You will see first hand through our demonstrations the entire printing workflow, ending with a finished print. In addition to presentations, we will be leading hands on classroom time, guiding you through the process of preparing and optimizing an image to be printed on aluminum.

This course is for anyone who would like to learn techniques for producing better prints. Zack and Adrian have 30 years of combined printing experience. Our goal is to show what is fundamental and essential in our work and help photographers make prints that match their vision more consistently. The printing techniques are the ones we use ourselves. We have worked hard to break down the steps, give clear examples and cover the most important aspects of printing.

Optional Field Sessions Add-On

We will be holding the print workshop in spring, which is an optimal time to visit some of the waterfalls and streams in the area, as the green foliage sprouts to life after the cooler days of winter have passed. While you are already here, why not spend the evening of Sunday 5/3 and all day Monday 5/4 with us as we photograph local waterways and forests. We are targeting to have all locations no more than a one-hour drive from Vancouver, WA area, some will likely be much less.

- 5/3: After a short break from finishing the print workshop, we will plan on having an early dinner, then spending the rest of the daylight in the field.
- 5/4: We will be out around sunrise and plan to visit multiple places throughout the day while also taking breaks for at least breakfast and dinner.

Physical Activity Level: Expect some hiking yet it will be fairly limited. Nothing more than 1 to 1.5 mile round trip with easy to moderate trail incline. Not all locations we visit will involve hiking. It is important that you have the ability to comfortably carry your camera gear over uneven terrain to join this field session.

Transportation: Not included yet we will request participants car pool with each as some locations have very limited parking.

Meals: Food is not included for this add-on. We will have optional no-host breaks for meals to gather and interact as a group.

Below are photos of some of the locations we anticipate visiting during our time out in the field. Photos may be from a different season. No specific itinerary is shared in advance as the final schedule is determined closer to the workshop based on current conditions.
